Queerly Operatic
Queerly Operatic
Queerly Operatic has more than 200 members, both women and men, from newbies to big fans. Each in-home event is limited to 10 people so everyone gets a chance to know each other. New members are always made very welcome!
We meet for potlucks, videos, and performances: lots of early opera (Rossini, Mozart, and backwards from there); gender-bending operas where women play men in “trouser” roles; and selections from S.F. Opera's current season. Our monthly potluck and opera DVD nights are on Potrero Hill in San Francisco (usually on the second Saturday of the month), with occasional special events in San Francisco and the East Bay. New event for 2009/10: Attending Metropolitan Opera “Live in HD” performances together at the Bay Street theater in Emeryville, with dinner beforehand!

Upcoming Events:
Saturday, February 27, 2010: Orpheus in the Underworld
Potrero Hill home, San Francisco, 5 pm
Saturday, March 27, 2010: TBA
Potrero Hill home, San Francisco, 5 pm
By signing up on the mailing list, you'll get an e-mail invitation a week or two before each event, with a description of that month's opera. Once you RSVP, you'll get an e-mail a few days before the event with directions and details of what to bring. The mailing list is low-volume, not a discussion list; you'll get about 3 messages a month (an announcement and reminder about our monthly gathering, plus occasional event announcements).
Any questions? Write to club organizer Elaine at opera club’s e-mail address: it’s QueerlyOperatic, and the provider is aol.com (put the @ in between as usual). This is also the e-mail address to use to sign up. You can also find us on MeetUp.com.
And don't forget to tell your opera-loving friends about Queerly Operatic!
